Things to do around and about
Here in our remote Scottish valley, time seems to slow down as you adjust to peace and quiet of the surroundings. We hear the same thing from our guests time after time, how they enjoyed switching off and just relaxing in nature. But if you do fancy getting out and about, and getting to know our beautiful remote valley, there’s plenty to see. Eskdalemuir is home to Samye Ling Buddhist monastery, Europe’s largest Buddhist temple. Situated not far from the end of our track, so only a 20 minute drive.
Dark Skies Glamping Pod is set within forestry land, and we have 100’s of miles of tracks around the forests to wander, or cycle. The Roman and Reivers route runs directly behind our property up to Craik Cross Hill, where there are the remains of an old Roman signal station. There’s also plenty of other historical and archaeological interest in the Esk valley, from Neolithic stone circles, to old hill forts.
Just across the valley we have the Ettrick Hills range, apart of the Southern Uplands. The more adventurous could walk up Ettrick Pen, the tallest hill in the range at 692m.
